Carlotta Verduci
Travelling has always been a big inspiration for me, I’ve spent half my career travelling.
Art wise I get inspired by ancient tribal art, japonisme-art nouveau, middle eastern art, Asian and sci-fi movies, fashion designers during the 1980/90s and Rene Lalique as a personal favourite for metamorphosis/jewellery inspiration. My nonna also inspires me. I would describe my style as art deco, art nouveau/Japanese, colourful modernism with a twist (and yes animal print).
I’m Italian but have lived and worked in London, Australia and Aotearoa.
Some would say I’m a fake Italian because I don’t drink coffee and have gluten intolerance.
I was in a professional volleyball team for 7 years.
When I was 14, I skipped volleyball practice and instead painted a huge piece of graffiti in the locker room; I gave up volleyball after that and pursued art instead.
